Meet The Founder
Tamara Crawford-Thomas is a native of Hempstead, Long Island, in New York. She attended Fisk University in Nashville, TN, where she received a dual degree in Dramatics and Speech and Psychology. After graduation from Fisk, Tamara returned to N.Y. and pursued a successful, professional acting career in theater, independent film and T.V. Some of her credits include: NBC Studios African-American Collegiate Pageant, MTV’s Apt. 2F, CBS Studios Guiding Light Soap Opera and a lead role in a six month run of the play, Acres of Diamonds, at the Billy Holiday Theater. Some of Tamara’s St. Louis credits include playing the role of Joyce in the hit Gospel Musical, A House Divided, with singing Legend Regina Bell, at the Scottish Rite Theater. She reprised the role again, in the touring production, with former Temptation, the late Ali-Ollie Woodson. Tamara can also be seen in industrial videos for AT&T and Merck companies and film shorts such as, ‘Masterpiece’, ‘What Ever Happened to Rudolph’, ‘Out Tha’ Trunk’ and ‘Men in Black and White’ by Exousia Productions. The film short, ‘Masterpiece’, was featured in the 2006 St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase and debuted at the Tivoli Movie Theater in the Delmar Loop.
In 1998, Tamara married her husband, Demetrius, and relocated to St. Louis, MO. heeding a prophetic word. Desiring to sanctify her gifts for God's Kingdom, in 2006, Shabach Repertory Theater Company was created. In 2007, the Lord released Tamara from her seven year career with the State of Missouri’s Department of Mental Health, in order for her to focus on her Arts Ministry. Since that time, Shabach has performed its original vignettes for women conferences, educational luncheons, school programs, corporate events, milestone birthday celebrations, pastoral events and much more! In 2014, Shabach Artistic Expressions Ministry was birthed.......with greater vision and in 2015 Tamara debuted her first original theatrical production called The Chronicles of Namow! Based off a collection of original poetry authored by Tamara Crawford-Thomas, this riveting collection of dramatized poetry, or 'Dramatry' as Tamara calls it, and its all women cast, have been widely received and become Shabach's flagship production! 2019 brought even greater vision and expanded mission and we added the word 'Global' to our name! Tamara is grateful for the journey thus far and believes that there's still much left to do! She is wide eyed and expectant, looking to see how the Lord will finish what He began! Tamara lives in St. Louis, MO. with her husband and three beautiful children.
